International Lymphatic Symposium September 2017

John has been a licensed healthcare provider since 1986. 

Initially licensed in Pennsylvania, where he started his career working on elite and professional athletes; he moved to Florida in 2002 and received his Florida license in 2005. He has been the owner of Other Worlds Therapies and manufacturer of the Other Worlds aromatherapy line which can be found on for over 30 years. 

John has been an educator since 2000 and has taught at various massage therapy schools, colleges and universities. In 2009, he was selected by the Madison Avenue's Who's Who as one of the top 10 international therapists and was inducted into the International Sports Professionals Association for his outstanding work on professional athletes. 

He was the Broward Chapter President of the Florida State Massage Therapy Association from 2009 - 2014 and became the Florida State Massage Therapy Association Vice President in 2014 - 2016. 

In 2011, he was selected as one of the official therapists for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He continues teaching massage therapy in schools and colleges as well as teaching continuing education in various modalities and founded the International Aromatherapy Institute.

Always committed to quality in both education and products, John believes that quality products begin with quality ingredients. All of Other Worlds' products are used by him independently prior to being available to the public to make sure that the desired formula and effectiveness have been met. 



International Lymphatic Symposium September 2017. Elisa was inspired by her fathers love of science.  She obtained a B.A. degree in Behavior Science from Lynn University in Boca Raton, and an M.S. degree in Occupational Therapy from Barry University, in addition to her Massage Therapy licensure. Elisa became a certified Manual Lymph Drainage Specialist for the pioneer of lymphedema treatment, Surgeon Robert Lerner, M.D..  She also obtained certification as a garment and othotic fitter.  Elisa worked as the Clinic Director of Florida's Lymphedema Treatment Services Clinic which was founded by Dr. Lerner.  The LTS served as a clinic model for others who attended and obtained MLD certifications. 

Elisa was LANA Certified, and her educational outreach has been felt through peer reviewed research, published articles, support groups, national CEU courses, in addition to radio, television and convention appearances over the last 15 years.  She has also been a guest lecturer at leading universities and a sought after public speaker for cancer organizations, and many other groups.  

Elisa is the founder of the MLD Institute International which provides advanced training and certification in manual lymphatic drainage.  She serves on the scientific advisory board of Healthcare corporations, colleges and spas.  She is a consultant to major insurance companies and surgeons specializing on the topic of Manual Lymphatic Drainage.  Elisa shares her  extensive knowledge of the lymphatic system in a way that is easily understood and retained.  Her courses provide ample hands on training to ensure that students retain both the scientific aspects and the proper techniques necessary in providing beneficial manual lymphatic drainage , MLD sessions.  Elisa  is the mother of two and in her spare time enjoys playing the piano, martial arts and continues her doctoral studies. International Lymphatic Symposium September 2017. Leiah Carr is an international educator and licensed massage therapist with over 20 years’ experience in complementary medicine.  Leiah has been a holistic and energy practitioner since the early 90’s. She became a nationally board certified and Florida licensed massage therapist in 1999.  She is a speaker, researcher, educator and advocate for the Massage Therapy Profession. 

Leiah is the Immediate Past President of the Florida State Massage Therapy Association, having served two terms as FSMTA’s President and CEO. Prior to serving as President, she served multiple terms as the President of the FSMTA First Coast Chapter. Leiah has a broad background in Integrative Medicine with a major focus on Eastern Therapies, Sound Healing, the Lymphatic system and Energy Medicine. She is currently the President of the International Sound Healing Institute. She has studied and works directly with Dr. Telse Hunter Merry, PhD., known as the “Grandmother of Shiatsu and Tibetan Bowl Sound Massage”, and the person responsible for bringing both Shiatsu and Tibetan Bowl Sound Massage to North America. Leiah teaches and shares her knowledge about these modalities with other Practitioners to empower them to successfully integrate those therapies into their practice.

In addition to her teaching and leadership positions Leiah has maintained a successful massage practice and center in Jacksonville, Florida for 16 years. These blended roles provide her with a unique insight into the needs of massage therapists. Through the years Leiah has received several awards and in 2016 she was honored to be inducted into the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame.

Leiah lives in Florida, and teaches in the continental U. S. and Internationally. She is passionate about the massage therapy profession, and enjoys sharing her knowledge and wisdom. Learn more about her and her courses at
